Firle Place , the home of the Gage family for over 500 years, lies in a cleft in the South Downs near Lewes. Surrounded by extensive park and set against a background of hanging woodland.

The un English looking house is built of pale stone brought from Caen in Normandy . Although Firle looks like an eighteenth century house it conceals portions of a much older building.

The imposing Great Hall of the house leads into a number of stately rooms full of beautiful paintings, ornaments, china, furniture and treasures collected by the Gage family through the ages.

The Gardens:
Set into terraces with lawns and gravel paths include a pretty fountain and were laid in the 19 th Century by the 5th Viscount

The Pleasure Grounds:
'The Secret Gardens of Firle Place '. Currently under re-construction by the garden team and open to guided tours during the show.

The picturesque village of West Firle:
Contains many buildings of interest as well as a traditional pub, The Ram, loyally named after the crest of Lord Gage.
